What’s happening?
If you’ve clicked the link to visit ThePredictionGame.com you will have seen that there isn’t a lot going on right now. The site is still being developed and the site doesn’t have much info on it right now. However, over the next few days there will be a lot of changes appearing. Most importantly there will be text explaining how to use the site!
I want the site to be easy to use. Prediction markets aren’t the easiest concept to get your head around, so I want to include lots of help and explainations. I want the site to appeal to as wide an audience as possible and not just those who are familar with stock markets and online betting. With that in mind we’ve added a great little tool tip feature. If you turn the help feature on you will get small pop up boxes explaining things when you mouse over certain areas. This should assist first time visitors. In addition there will be a more detailed FAQ section.
We have also created our own tag cloud. Users can identify the popular tags/keywords that others are searching for and also find related content by clicking a tag.
The individual prediction profile pages are having a makeover, with better styling and ingration with the forums and the tagging system. There are various other styling changes in progress.
So despite the site having a Mary Celeste feel at the moment, that should all be changing very soon. In the meantime, feel free to post your comment/suggestions.

Why Predaq?
I expect you’re wondering why “Predaq”. When I was deciding upon a suitable name for my prediction market project I thought long and hard (it doesn’t happen often). I wanted a name that would explain what the site was ie a market. One of the biggest and most well known names when it comes to technology markets is the NASDAQ. Lots of companies have called themselves daqs or used the initials DAQ. Even the BBC, who created Celebdaq, which is a prediction market of sorts. So hence the name was to be “Pre” (short for prediction) and “daq” - Predaq.
Anyway, I decided not to use it in the end as the feedback I got from my research amongst friends, family and colleagues was “it means nothing to me Haydon”. So I opted to keep it simple stupid, and went for “The Prediction Game”. It’s a game and it’s about Predictions!
By then I’d already bought the Predaq.com domain name, so I thought I’d use it for this ‘ere blog.
